We started the day with worship - dancing with rhythm like the Africans do!
Paul Damtunda blessed us with his testimony of how God is transforming lives in the Niger delta region of Nigeria - reaching out to the rebels in that region and running DTSs and Bible studies. Lynn Green challenged us to look back at "healing the nervous system" as we watched the communication teams DVD. We were challenged to value communication, and to reflect that value within our personal lives, ministries and bases. Maureen Mernard spoke on how God knows our name and is calling us, the question is - are we listening? There has never been a time like this in all of history where the gospel can be preached and the great commission could be fulfilled within one generation. John 15:16 was given as a question to ponder - what can we do to become more fruitful? After listening to different deans from within the UofN share about what God is doing within each of their areas in the nations, the conclusion was brought that God is leading us into a new era of apostolic pioneering.
After lunch we packed ourselves in buses to do evangelism in the city of Worcester. Worcester is a small city and with five hundred YWAMers sharing the gospel many had the opportunity to hear. We divided into five teams, some doing an open air in the town square, others visiting townships and working with existing community based ministries of YWAM Worcester. We shared laughter, smiles and hope as people responded to the gospel receiving salvation.
Tonight we had an Open Night held at the Worcester City Hall. The venue had a historical link to the first revival that happened in the city. Local pastors and church members joined with us, as well as some of the individuals we had met during evangelism this afternoon. A welcome was brought by highly polished performances by Island Breeze and South roots. The dances of Tahiti, Fiji and Africa captivated the audience. Jim Stier challenged us on the quality of our personal lives, multiplication and the priority we place on reaching the unreached. Many responded to the challenge to make ourselves available for what God is wanting to do in the unreached people groups. He strongly spoke about living out Christ in us as opposed to being religious in our evangelism.
Testimonies from Evangelism:
"As people were milling around I spied out a couple of young ladies from a Xhosa background. Before long we begin to communicate the gospel they responded with "what you describe about having faith in Jesus in my mind and not in my heart, that explains me" - they both gave their lives to Jesus." - Joseph, DTS Student, YWAM Kona
"I felt led to pray for a man sitting in front of the post office. He couldn't walk properly so I grabbed his walking stick and said "walk in Jesus name". He started walking, at first he started to fall, but he kept walking, his leg grew out until it was the equal length as the other. The post office workers for lined up against the window peering out saying "it's a miracle". - Gershom, Staff, YWAM Muizenberg
"We did a performance at the park in Worcester. I saw this guy who looked kind of sad. As I spoke to him he shared how his wife had died. He started to cry, said he believed in Jesus, but didn't have relationship with him. I told him if you wanna change your life, receive Jesus and ask to have relationship with him, he responded "Yea, i want to change my life" - he gave his life to Jesus." - John - Island Breeze, YWAM Perth
"We went out to this Xhosa township, as we walking down the street we saw a lady standing outside a house. Jan approached her and we asked if we could pray for her. She invited us into her home, while doing this we noticed she couldn't walk right. She told us that she had broken her foot 8 years ago and had never been to a doctor so it hadn't healed right. We prayed for her foot believing in faith that God would heal it. God was telling me that he was going to heal her. Jan felt to wash her feet, as she was rubbing the soap over her foot massaging it you could see the swelling going down. Over that time i was getting a word from that Lord that she was to walk in faith and believe in faith that she was healed. She got up, started walking, she went to her bedroom and we couldn't see her anymore. She came out, walking, not saying anything, she looked like she was in shock. She started praying in Afrikaans, thanking Jesus for the healing that had taken place!" - Monica, DTS Staff
"We went to the mall because I had a problem with my computer. As we stood there an old gentleman walked in and enquired about a louie gigilo video. The people in the store didn't know what he was talking about, but we had one in our car so went and gave it to him. Felt the Lord give a word "i miss you so much" I shared this with him and he started weeping, his wife walked in and turns out she is a commited christian. He told us "I know God, but i don't really know him" He came back three times to talk with us as we were in the mall. - Logan
"Before the city hall meeting I was sitting out front with my boys, a drunk guy came and danced as we were jamming with the guitar. Then he pulled out a hammer and went to swing it at one of my boys, we were getting ready to defend ourselves when God said "prophesy over him". My friend Mickey started free style rapping - prophesying over him, i did the same, we went on for ten minutes! God gave me and mickey his heart for this man. It was amazing." - Chucky, Island Breeze, YWAM Perth
"I know quite a lot was happening yesterday. We prayed for some people who were sick and they were healed. I was sitting next to one guy who was sitting where we were singing. He mentioned that he was from Zimbabwe, and that he had just come to Worcester yesterday, he had just lost his job and was waiting for his brother. I felt something drop in my heart, and i shared about our prayer time for zimbabwe last night, i was pointing at the group "each and every individual you see here has been praying for zimbabwe' he was crying, it was powerful. He told me that "no one wants anything to do with people from Zimbabwe". " - Mwumba, YWAM Muizenberg
