Island Breeze

We joined with the other three locations for a study on the Character of God with a specific focus on his Mercy and Justice, followed by a word from Joy Dawson. During the afternoon ten different seminars were run, with topics ranging from "Community Development" to "College of The Arts & Sports".

Personal application for these were discussed as we swam in the hot pools at our site or sat around tables listening to live musicians.

The evening was kicked off by a performance by Island Breeze, as Aleni Rivers led us in a time of glorifying God in our own languages leading into Jim Stier sharing on "The Adoption, The Glory and The Mystery".

Here are some perspectives on day:

"I really enjoyed today. What always so great for me to be here that I am experiencing now what everything is about. The Holy Spirit has been working in me today and the messages have been speaking right to my heart. Its fun to be with everybody here to be in the crowd of the family of YWAM, to worship together, dance together. It's encouraging," -  Zach Price YWAM Kuruga Park.

"This morning took me back to how we really need to seek God" - Dwayne David, South Africa, YWAM Muizenberg

"I have been deeply challenged by the morning session. I realised that my ministry had become more important then intimacy with God. My relationship with God should affect my ministry, not my ministry affect my relationship with God." - Gerard Sierksma, The Netherlands, DTS Outreach Team Leader

"Joy Dawson's word this morning applied to me personally as well as being very specific to where we are at as a base. In the afternoon I went to my housing and read over the notes, this is very much a word in season. My husband and I only decided to come a few weeks ago. After reading Loren's letter we both felt an urgency that we needed to be here. My first impressions are that this has already been a powerful time. I am excited to see so many Brazilians here!" - Julie Gali, YWAM Receife Base Leader

Seminars:

"Community Development Centre"

"The seminar really tied in with the word Joy brought this morning. We need a correct perspective, a correct worldview if we are to disciple people effectively to see communities developed." - Community Development Seminar Teachers

"He is a Father to the Fatherless"

"Its easy to accept Jesus -  but when it comes to the Father it is difficult especially when that figure is distorted. Identity, Security, Self Esteem and Wholeness come from the father. We need to lead people towards this." -  Nicky Brown, Children At Risk School Student

"What is a Home? - Engaging the Orphan"

"It was an awesome time because God has put on my heart to work with homeless people and hearing stories of random people from nowhere in Texas doing amazing things in Africa just showed me that God can take anybody from anywhere to do an amazing work. Changing the world can just be changing the life of one child. It was a conformation that God wanted me to work with orphans Children teenagers refuges, it was an affirmation."  - Will,  DTS Student

"Leadership: A Call to Slavery"

"It challenged my concepts about leadership, what is the response when people treat you as a servant and that was a challenge for me. It was deep. God has been challenging me about my heart." - Hans, USA,  YWAM Muizenberg
