Leading Our Future
Fri, 11 Sep 2009
Mellow music over dinner, sitting in the sun over lunch and optional 6:30am morning exercise all added lasting memories to this day.
During worship in the morning session we joined together as delegates from over 50 nations to pray for the kingdom of God to come to the continent of Africa. Individuals came forward to share testimonies from our time of evangelism yesterday afternoon (a selection of these can be found at the bottom of the article for Day Four).
GENESIS technology once again allowed us to link with the other three locations. We each shared about Catalyst 9 locations. Catalyst 9 in an outreach linked with the UofN Workshop, bringing in international teams to partner with local churches working together towards community transformation. In Cape Town we have been joined by 27 international teams who have worked closely with over 30 churches within Cape Town. Together we shared the gospel with over 11,000 and had the privilege of talking over 1,800 people through a personal response to the gospel message. 12 of these teams have joined us here at the Worcester location for the UofN Workshop. In the evening we watched a short DVD documentary on Catalyst 9 in Cape Town, produced by the 2009 Media Reach DTS from YWAM Perth.
Shirley Brownhill shared how next year we are going to be taking megacities (a similar ministry model to Catalyst 9) to Mexico City. International leaders challenged all of us "prayerfully consider to send teams to the transformation of one of the largest cities in the world". Shirley then went on to share how "God has opened up the city to us in a miraculous way".

GENESIS technology then allowed us to join with the first ever University of the Nations Graduation Ceremony to be linked with five locations simultaneously. With 26 graduates who have completed UofN coursework in 64 different locations, we in Worcester were proud to celebrate with Marguerite Susan Greyvenstien who received an Associate of Arts Degree with the College of Christian Ministries.
"In the UofN I gained practical tools, skills and experiences through hands on training - because UofN is never about theory only. My favorite part is that I got to learn from, and be imparted to, from people who have a lifestyle of being sold out to Jesus - who have a lifestyle of pushing boundaries of what seems possible. this so shaped my perspective on what God is doing around the world and how I am to be involved with training. Thank you to everyone who made this possible." - Marguerite Susan Greyvenstien, Graduating Speech
Mwamba from YWAM Muizenberg shared his vision for the 2010 Soccer World Cup which will be help in South Africa next year. During the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Mwamba was a significant part of brining many africans to serve at the event, and now he is wanting to bring the world to Africa. We were invited to come and bring teams to do ministry.
Jim Stier, Kobus van Niekerk, Pete Brownhill, Maureen Mernard and Sam Kisolo spoke on a leadership panel. They each shared a key in leadership for moving the vision forward, a foundational principle for transformation of individuals, communities or spheres, what "finishing strong" means within the context of YWAM and shared a hard time that they had experienced, what they learned through it and why they would never exchange it for another. Through their humility and openness this was a session resulting in great encouragement for many.
